IDLES are an English rock band from Bristol, formed in 2009 around vocalist Joe Talbot. Brutalism (2017) and Joy as an Act of Resistance (2018) made them the decade's defining loud band by inverting punk's usual posture — songs about grief, toxic masculinity, immigration, and sobriety, delivered at demolition volume with the message that vulnerability is the hard part. Their live shows are communal, sweat-soaked, and evangelical about kindness.
