Interpol are an American rock band formed in New York City in 1997 — Paul Banks, Daniel Kessler, and Sam Fogarino, with Carlos Dengler on bass through the classic era. Turn On the Bright Lights (2002) was the NYC revival's dark masterpiece, all suits, reverb, and dread, and Antics (2004) made them headliners. They remain the moment's most enduring stylists: nobody has ever mistaken an Interpol song for anyone else's.
