Lucero are an American rock band from Memphis, formed in 1998 around Ben Nichols' sandpaper voice and songs that split the difference between country heartbreak and punk abandon. Two decades of near-constant touring — 200-plus shows a year at their peak — built one of the most devoted bar-band followings in America, across albums from Tennessee and That Much Further West to the Memphis-horns era of 1372 Overton Park and beyond.
