Chuck Prophet answered a lymphoma diagnosis the only way that made sense to him: he fell in love with cumbia records during treatment, and when he came out the other side he made Wake the Dead with a California cumbia band and took the groove on the road. Forty years after Green on Red helped invent Americana, the survivor showed up at 3S Artspace playing dance music about mortality. Not a farewell tour — the opposite.
