The moment
Roadrunner was weeks old — Boston's first new big room in a generation, still smelling of paint — and LCD Soundsystem christened it with a residency run. The band itself was a resurrection: James Murphy had staged rock's most famous retirement at Madison Square Garden in 2011, sold the funeral as a film, then sheepishly returned because the songs weren't done. By 2022 the reunion had outlasted the original run. New room, un-retired band, 'All My Friends' at full volume: a fitting way to open a venue.
