The moment

Twelve years after John stood in a Chula Vista college stadium for the first Lollapalooza, he was at one of the last of its touring life: the 2003 revival, with Jane's Addiction headlining again — Perry Farrell resurrecting both his band and his festival in one gesture — over Audioslave, Queens of the Stone Age, and Incubus. The next year's edition collapsed outright, and Lollapalooza retreated to a Chicago park to become a destination brand. John holds tickets to the festival's birth and, effectively, its funeral as a traveling show.
