The moment
Rubber Factory — recorded in an abandoned tire plant in Akron because they'd lost their basement — had made the Black Keys the other great garage duo, the blues-heavier answer to the White Stripes they were forever compared to. In 2005 they were still exactly that: two guys, a van, fifteen-dollar tickets, a ballroom show. Brothers and 'Lonely Boy' and the arenas were five years out. This is the club-era Black Keys, preserved in a stub.
