Matt Johnson had spent two decades making The The one of Britain's great uncompromising projects — Soul Mining, Infected, the Johnny Marr years — and NakedSelf brought him back after a five-year silence. What nobody knew: this tour was effectively the end. After 2002 Johnson withdrew from music almost entirely, and The The didn't tour again for sixteen years. A club show on Lansdowne Street turned out to be among the last chances an American generation got.
