Opened April 9, 1915 on Hanover Street, founded by the Greek immigrant Victor Charas and modeled closely on the Palace Theatre in New York. Vaudeville into 1930, then movies to the early 1960s, then decline and warehouse use. A roughly $500,000 restoration reopened it November 2, 1974. It seated about 1,100 originally; 880 now.
