Indigo Girls are an American folk-rock duo from Atlanta — Amy Ray and Emily Saliers, playing together since high school in the early 1980s. Their 1989 major-label debut and its lead song 'Closer to Fine' won a Grammy and made close-harmony acoustic music commercially viable again, and they spent the following decades pairing that catalog with tireless activism for LGBTQ rights, Native American causes, and the environment. 'Closer to Fine' found a whole new generation in 2023 via the Barbie soundtrack.
