Waxahatchee is the project of Katie Crutchfield, an American songwriter from Birmingham, Alabama, named for the Alabama creek she grew up beside. Emerging from the punk band P.S. Eliot with her twin sister Allison, she moved from the four-tracked American Weekend (2012) through indie rock toward the country-inflected clarity of Saint Cloud (2020) — written newly sober, and a career-remaking triumph — and Tigers Blood (2024), which made her one of the defining American songwriters of her generation.
