The moment

Three months after the Paradise, the Arctic Monkeys were back in Boston in a room twice the size — that was the pace of 2006 for them. The fastest-selling debut in British history was now conquering America one graduation at a time, 'I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor' had made Alex Turner the most quoted lyricist of the year, and every show was a checkpoint in the steepest ascent of the decade. John holds both stubs: March and June, the leap measured in venues.
