Convoy were fronted by Jason Hill and Brian Karscig, who would form Louis XIV three years later — the same Jason Hill whose website John now builds. A 2002 Convoy press release says they opened for Better Than Ezra the previous year, and this is the only Better Than Ezra date at the Avalon in 2001, so the year pins the night. John has since seen Louis XIV four times. No ticket survives; the opener is his memory, the date an inference from it.
