Convoy was a San Diego rock band formed in the mid-1990s around Jason Hill and Brian Karscig, working an Americana-leaning strain of California rock through the city's club circuit — the Casbah at home, runs up the coast to the Roxy and the Paradise. They released records into the early 2000s before winding down around 2003, when Hill and Karscig re-emerged as the glam-rock band Louis XIV. John saw them up and down both coasts and designed for the family of bands they became.
