The moment

Jeff Tweedy alone with a guitar in a Somerville bar, twenty dollars, while back in Chicago the tapes that would become Yankee Hotel Foxtrot sat half-finished in the Loft. Within four months the album would be done, rejected, and the biggest story in American rock; within a year Tweedy would be selling out the Orpheum on the vindication tour — John was at that too. Ben Kweller opened, a teenager a year from Sha Sha. The quietest room in this archive's whole Wilco arc, right before everything got loud.
