The moment
The opener is the heartbreaker here: Jay Bennett, eighteen months after Wilco fired him, three months after I Am Trying to Break Your Heart put the firing on movie screens — the multi-instrumentalist who'd built Summerteeth's candy shell and half of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, now playing an eight-dollar club show in someone else's support slot. He died in 2009, still fighting for his due. For an archive this deep in Wilco, this stub is the elegy: the exiled architect, up close, at T.T.'s.
