Separate order (purchased 2016-01-31) for the same Titus Andronicus show also ticketed under order 701113 (thread 151b5ab36e1bbc71, qty 2). Bought across two separate orders (1 + 2 tickets); merged. Craig Finn opened, per John. setlist.fm has no entry for this night, and files a Craig Finn set in Albany on the same date — but Titus Andronicus played Albany on the 23rd and New Haven on the 25th, so a Northampton show on the 24th fits the routing, and John's ticket proves it. The Albany date looks like a setlist.fm slip.
The moment
Titus Andronicus were touring The Most Lamentable Tragedy — a 93-minute, five-act punk rock opera about manic depression, the kind of overreach nobody else would attempt and Patrick Stickles couldn't resist. The opener knotted two of this archive's longest threads together: Craig Finn, the Hold Steady's frontman, solo — the bar-band poet laureate warming up for the punks who inherited his footnote-heavy gospel. John had been seeing Finn's band since a $12 Middle East basement show in 2006.
From the time
- The Most Lamentable Tragedy
“The 2015 five-act rock opera — maximalism as a way of life, toured with Craig Finn opening.”
