An alt-rock club at 13-15 Lansdowne Street, opened in 1987 next door to its sister venue Avalon, in the strip of clubs behind Fenway's Green Monster. Patrick Lyons closed Axis and Avalon together on October 1, 2007; both buildings were demolished and House of Blues opened on the site in 2009.
