Central Park's summer performance series, launched in June 1986 with the Sun Ra Arkestra at the Naumburg Bandshell before settling at Rumsey Playfield. A $6 million renovation finished in 2019 rebuilt the stage and raised capacity about 20 percent, to roughly 5,500.
