No ticket stub or email survives — John remembered the show, and the date is the one documented by Concert Archives. He saw Louis XIV again on their own at the Paradise that August.
The moment
Hot Fuss was a year old and refusing to fade — 'Mr. Brightside' had just cracked the American top ten on its slow burn, and the Killers were the biggest new band of the moment, playing Central Park at the start of a New York summer. Louis XIV opened, which put John's own handiwork on a SummerStage bill; three days later the same package rolled into Boston under Interpol. One weekend, the entire class of 2005 rock revival, and John saw both ends of it.
From the time
- Hot Fuss
“The 2004 debut that wouldn't stop selling — by this summer it had made the Killers the biggest new rock band in America.”
