The fairgrounds themselves, opened in 1936, as distinct from the halls inside them. Big outdoor shows and festivals use the grounds and the grandstand rather than a fixed room, so no capacity applies. Bing Crosby was a founding member of the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club; the O'Brien Pavilion and Bing Crosby Hall, both elsewhere in John's archive, are exhibit buildings on this same site.
