Forty-four years in Allston as a 240-capacity room that booked punk, indie, hip-hop, metal and freak folk before those acts got big. Its last show was March 13, 2020; the permanent closure was announced that May, a casualty of the pandemic shutdown and lease trouble. More than 25,000 people signed a petition and a crowdfunding drive raised over $300,000. A revived Great Scott is planned for 2026, two blocks from the original address.
