Opened 1967 as San Diego Stadium, renamed Jack Murphy Stadium in 1981 for the sportswriter, then Qualcomm Stadium in 1997. A sports stadium, not a music venue. Capacity moved constantly — about 50,000 at opening, 59,022 after a mid-1980s expansion, 70,561 by Super Bowl XXXII. Demolition began in December 2020; the last section fell March 22, 2021.
