Spiritualized is the English band Jason Pierce — J. Spaceman — formed in 1990 from the ashes of Spacemen 3, dedicated to a single idea pursued at every scale: gospel, blues, and drone arranged into music about rescue. Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space (1997) is its canonical statement, made amid heartbreak and named one of the era's great albums; the catalog since has kept restating the sermon through orchestras, illness, and minimal lineups alike.
