2005 was the year of Conor Oberst: I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning and Digital Ash in a Digital Urn released the same January day, both charting, after 'Lua' and 'Take It Easy (Love Nothing)' had held the top two spots on Billboard's singles sales chart — a feat nobody had managed since Puff Daddy. He was 25 and carrying the heaviest 'new Dylan' hype of the decade. The night before Thanksgiving in Concord, with Mickey and Jonas, and Feist opening — two years before '1234' made her a star in her own right.
