The Main Gym was UC San Diego's principal indoor arena and its main concert space before RIMAC opened in 1995. It seated only about 2,200 and was rarely free for concerts, which capped the size of what could play there. Once RIMAC opened, the big campus shows moved and the gym went back to athletics.
