Louis XIV

Date
Tuesday, Feb 28, 2006
Venue
Scala
City
London, England

John crossed the Atlantic for this run — he was the band's designer and friend, on hand for all three shows: Oxford on the 25th, Scala on the 28th, Paris two days later. He supplied the dates himself. His first shows outside North America.

The moment

The Best Little Secrets Are Kept was a year old, NME had crowned them "music to flunk rehab to," and the glam-sleaze revival had London's attention — Scala sold on the strength of a record John had spent long nights conceptualizing artwork for. He wasn't reviewing this tour; he was on it. Oxford three nights earlier, Paris two nights later, the band's designer standing in the crowd watching his work on the merch table.
