Nineteen months after John watched them play the thousand-cap Roxy, the White Stripes were an arena act — Elephant had gone platinum, 'Seven Nation Army' was on its way to becoming the most chanted riff on earth, and the garage-rock revival's flagship band had outgrown every room in it. Same two people, same red and white, same borrowed equipment aesthetic, now filling a hockey arena in Lowell. With Mickey, $32, general admission — the after-picture to the Roxy stub's before.
