The moment
The third and final White Stripes stub in the archive, and the strangest chapter: Get Behind Me Satan traded the riffs for marimba, piano, and paranoia — a #3 album that confused radio and won the Grammy anyway. The setting matched the pivot: a restored gilded opera house instead of a rock room. Two years later Meg's anxiety took them off the road for good. Roxy, arena, opera house — John's three stubs turned out to trace the entire public arc, first ascent to final act.
From the time
- Get Behind Me Satan
“The 2005 marimba-and-piano curveball — the last album the White Stripes ever toured.”
