Wilco is an American rock band from Chicago, formed in 1994 by Jeff Tweedy after the breakup of the alt-country group Uncle Tupelo. Across a restless run of albums they moved from roots rock into experimental territory, peaking publicly with Yankee Hotel Foxtrot (2002) — famously rejected by their own label, then released to the best reviews of the year — and the Grammy-winning A Ghost Is Born (2004). With the lineup settled around Tweedy, Nels Cline, and company since 2004, they became one of America's most durable live bands.
