One of the oldest continuously operating theaters in America. It opened November 20, 1852 as the Boston Music Hall with a dedication concert by the Handel and Haydn Society, and was the first home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. It was reconfigured and renamed the Orpheum in 1906 for the national vaudeville circuit. Tchaikovsky's First Piano Concerto had its Boston debut on this stage.
