Bob Dylan is an American singer-songwriter, widely regarded as one of the greatest songwriters of all time. Emerging from the Greenwich Village folk scene in the early 1960s, he rewrote what popular song could carry — going electric in 1965, reinventing himself decade after decade, and touring almost continuously since 1988 on what fans call the Never Ending Tour. His late-career run beginning with Time Out of Mind (1997) and Love and Theft (2001) is considered a third act with few equals. He received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2016.
