The moment

Three months after Time Out of Mind won Album of the Year — the record made in the shadow of the heart infection that nearly killed him — Dylan toured the West Coast on a triple bill with Joni Mitchell and Van Morrison: three of the four or five greatest songwriters alive, alternating sets in a hockey arena, eighty-five dollars, limited view. Nobody has assembled a bill like it since. John's first of five Dylans in the archive, and the one with the most history per square foot of stage.
