The moment

Dylan in the fall of 2000 was between masterpieces — three years past Time Out of Mind, ten months from Love and Theft — but 'Things Have Changed,' his sly noir single for Wonder Boys, was out and headed for the Oscar he'd famously keep on his amp for years afterward.
